We have a great opportunity to join our Arbs team as a Groundsman to contribute to the achievement of the key objective for Environmental Services by undertaking a range of duties within the company. These include the provision of Arboriculture, Grounds and Horticultural Maintenance Operations and other activities that impact on the Street Environment, Parks and Greenspaces.
Please Note: Applicant's are required to hold their CS30/31 qualification for this role.
Job Activities
- You'll undertake duties allocated by the lead arborist in accordance with agreed procedures to defined standards, generally connected to the provision of tree surgery services to a high standard.
- You'll undertake Grounds maintenance and horticultural duties in the following areas: Parks including countryside parks, green areas including highway verges, landscaped areas, planted areas, council properties, recreation areas, cemeteries, schools and other public amenity areas.
To assist our lead climbers with all aspects of tree pruning, felling, planting, stump/root removal and hedge maintenance.
- You'll be using ground based chainsaw, woodchipper and any other equipment necessary to complete your role. to ensure effective collaborative working whilst maintaining a clean hazard free work site.
- You'll be highly motivated and able to work to an extremely high standard of both safety and quality.
- You'll be able to drive vehicles with a gross vehicle weight up to 3.5 tonnes including tippers and be responsible for daily vehicle checks and routine cleaning/defect reporting.
- You'll unsure that all appropriate Health & Safety policies and procedures are adhered to in order to maintain a safe environment for staff, customers and members of the public.
- You'll be willing to further develop arboricultural knowledge and practically progress into climbing skills.
Responsibilities
- You'll take responsibility for the, application of Health and Safety practice, security and safe use of plant and machinery.
- You'll assist in the recycling of waste collected, wherever possible.
- You'll undertake duties in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with established safe systems of work, policies and procedures.
- You'll report accidents and machinery/vehicle breakdowns
- You'll carry out basic health and safety checks for self, team members and machinery used.
- You'll work with a range of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- You'll be responsible for daily checks, cleaning and defect reporting for all equipment used.
- You'll have responsibility for securing of plant and equipment.
- You'll report any matters concerning the maintenance of a clean environment.
