Carmarthen Golf Club are seeking to recruit a Head Greenkeeper.
Carmarthen Golf Club is an established parkland course with stunning views over the Carmarthenshire, Cardiganshire and Powys countryside. Located some 3 miles from the town of Carmarthen in beautiful West Wales, the Club is a friendly, members’ Club and suitable for all levels of golfer.
The successful candidate must have proven ability to be able to manage the Greenkeeping Staff and the golf course in line with the Club’s Strategic plans, ensuring the maintenance, upkeep and continual improvement of the golf course.
The role is permanent and full-time. As an important member of the Club’s team, you will be key in the development of a course maintenance programme. Working closely with the Director of Greens, you will be responsible for ensuring the course is presented to our members and guests in the best possible condition and you will also play a leading role in future projects and improvements. Attention to detail is a must and this culture must be reflected across the entire team.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- An experienced deputy or head greenkeeper highly skilled in turf maintenance, drainage management and irrigation operation & management.
- Possess management, communication and leadership skills, having previously been a team leader, with the ability to communicate at all levels.
- Understand the need to prepare a course to a high standard and the attention to detail.
- Competent in the use of a wide variety of machinery, machine maintenance & management.
- To be fully competent in monitoring and maintaining health, safety and security in the workplace.
- Have the ability to work within a budget.
- A full UK driving licence.
OTHER DESIRED SKILLS
· NVQ level 2/3 in greenkeeping and sports turf management.
· Spraying and chainsaw qualifications desirable.
· First Aid training.
· Ability to lead renovation, drainage projects and construction works.
