Job Summary
To maintain assigned grounds in neat and orderly fashion by using powered landscaping or snow removal equipment as needed.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Receives daily assignments to maintain grounds, paths, and roadways according to weather and facility maintenance schedule.
- In appropriate season, prepares soil, plants seed or seedlings, weeds, rolls lawns, cuts grass, or removes leaves. In winter months, plows paths and roadways and shovels snow to clear doorways, fire hydrants and storm drains.
- Uses power tools to trim hedges and cut off dead tree limbs. Conducts lifter patrol in assigned area, removes trash and places in facility dump truck.
- Picks up trash from barrels in assigned areas and keeps assigned cultivated areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Prepare requisition slips for supplies, secures supervisor’s approval.
- Drives company truck for work assignments or drives to town to obtain needed supplies from designated vendors.
- Performs minor maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning to assigned power equipment; Refers more serious problems to automotive mechanic in truck garage.
- Relines parking lots with colored paint lines and makes changes as required to reserved parking designations.
Required Knowledge And Skills
- Must be a steady reliable worker
- Must have sufficient reading ability to understand simple instructions and schedule
- Must be able to perform simple tasks independently after given assignments
- Must hold a valid state driver’s license and be able to use snowplow blade on pickup truck.
Physical Requirements
- Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to operate power equipment.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to stand, crouch and climb to use ladders and perform various types of manual labor.
- Must be willing to work outdoors all year round.
Must have the know how to operate power mower, chain saw, power hedge trimmers and power leaf removal equipment.
