The Awty International School is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our Grounds Department as a Full-Time Grounds and Landscaping Worker. This position is critical in ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our campus, while adhering to safety standards and regulatory compliance.
Position Details:

- Employment Term: Year-Round, Full-Time
Key Responsibilities: - Campus Maintenance: Maintain outdoor areas including lawns, flowerbeds, trees, and shrubs to ensure they remain clean, safe, and visually appealing.
- Lawn Care: Mow, fertilize, water, and trim lawns.
- Planting & Trimming: Plant and prune flowers, shrubs, and trees, maintaining landscape aesthetics and safety around buildings and walkways.
- Weeding & Debris Removal: Remove weeds, leaves, and other debris from outdoor areas regularly.
- Outdoor Cleaning: Clean and maintain outdoor furniture, fixtures, and playgrounds.
- Trash Collection: Ensure the grounds remain litter-free by regularly collecting and disposing of trash.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular checks and maintenance on mowing equipment, power tools, and other landscaping gear.
- Patrol & Report: Patrol school property to identify and report any potential maintenance or safety concerns.
- Weather Preparation: Assist in preparing outdoor areas for adverse weather conditions (e.g., covering furniture, securing items during storms).
- Safety & Compliance:
- Follow established safety procedures.
- Report potential hazards and contribute to their resolution.
- Participate in emergency management activities, particularly during natural disasters.
Essential Job Functions: - Physical Demands:
- The job requires regular physical activities, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently.
- Perform manual labor that includes pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying landscaping materials and tools.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and traverse varying terrains (e.g., lawns, gravel, pavement).
- Must have the ability to kneel, crouch, and work in outdoor conditions that may involve exposure to extreme heat, cold, rain, or other weather elements.
- Dexterity to use power tools, equipment, and gardening tools safely and effectively.
- Capable of working at heights or on ladders to trim trees or inspect landscaping structures.
- Clear near and far vision, depth perception, and color distinction are required for plant care, equipment operation, and ensuring overall safety.
- The ability to perceive the nature of sound to communicate with team members, supervisors, or during emergency situations.
- Mental and Environmental Demands:
- Ability to work outdoors for long periods in a variety of weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, wind).
- Maintain stamina and physical endurance while performing labor-intensive tasks.
- Perform tasks independently or as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle stressful conditions, multiple tasks, and tight deadlines, while maintaining a high degree of safety and professionalism.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to assess maintenance needs and resolve landscaping issues.
Qualifications:
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Basic repair skills preferred.
- Flexible work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Familiarity with sprinkler systems, landscaping equipment, fertilizers, and pesticides.
- Demonstrated ability to work in high-stress environments with deadlines and multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments year-round, including extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to perceive sound, maintain near and far vision, depth perception, and dexterity to operate equipment safely.
Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Pesticide certification is a plus but not required.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
