Job Purpose
IMMEDIATE START WITH FUN & CARING TEAM
Based in Hereford City Centre, you will help us keep the area looking clean, tidy and ready for business throughout the week and ensure a welcoming environment for all city centre users. The role offers plenty of variety including installation of gazebos and stages for our live music events during warmer months through to chewing gum removal and street jet washing etc.
The position is ideal for a self starter that is task orientated and passionate about 'The detail'.
Key Responsibilities
To carry out any tasks requested of you by your manager in a timely and efficient way. These tasks are likely to include the following, but may from time to time include other tasks:
- To clean the windows and doorways of empty premises on a two weekly cycle or more often if required
- To clean “corners” and similar areas not reached by the Council’s Cleansing machines e.g. behind or under street furniture, small areas of private property next to the highway etc.
- To remove graffiti and flyposting from public and private premises and street furniture, focussing particularly on the less well-frequented streets
- To paint and make minor repairs when requested by your manager, e.g. install hanging basket brackets, paint bollards, repair benches, water flower planters, gardening etc.
- To report more major instances of damage, vandalism which are beyond your ability or outside your area of responsibility, to your manager or to Herefordshire Council or its agent Balfour Beatty e.g. blocked drains, paving maintenance
- To help deliver leaflets and newsletters etc. to BID businesses when requested by your manager
- To create and maintain good relations with BID businesses to help Hereford BID area run smoothly by feeding relevant information from businesses to your manager; and to feed information from the manager to the businesses when requested;

- Across 3 days per week starting 7am in the morning with some flexibility

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Experience and Knowledge
- Experience of carrying out cleansing duties
- Experience of carrying out general repairs and cleaning
- Understanding of the difference between public and private property
Skills and Abilities
- Able to plan your working time effectively
- Ability to manage good health and safety at all times
- Ability to manage people
- Willing and able to work with all businesses, large and small and to ensure that all BID businesses benefit from the handyman service equally
- To perform your job in a safe manner at all times, taking particular care to ensure that the general public using the area near the works are not endangered by your actions

Working Hours
This post will require the post holder to work early mornings and some Saturdays. Some evening work may also be requested from time to time.
Training
Full training will be given as required to complement your existing skills and you will be required to attend certain mandatory training courses.
