Are you passionate about creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces? We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join us as Head of Gardening and grounds maintenance for a large private garden in rural north Bedfordshire.
Working with the owners, this hands-on role will cover all aspects of the garden and landscape management ensuring that the grounds are always looking at their best.
We are looking for someone with:
· At least three years’ experience in a similar role, RHS level 3 or equivalent would be desirable.
· The ability to plan garden programmes (in consultation with the owners) on a seasonal basis as well as longer term improvement and maintenance plans.
· A ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to get on with all tasks as required.
· Confidence with the operation of machinery/equipment and maintenance including hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, strimmers, mowers and a tractor and trailer. In addition, PA1 and PA6a spraying certificates and a chainsaw licence would be an advantage, but not essential.
· Proficiency in both hard and soft landscaping would be extremely useful.
· Experience of managing a small team of part-time contractors.
· An excellent knowledge of Health and Safety and compliance requirements.
Hours negotiable (currently annualised at approximately 1,100 hrs - working 3 days per week for 10 months and 2 days per week for 2 months).
