Sonnenalp Golf Club PGA Intern - May 15, 2025 to August 15, 2025
Wage Range: $20/hr; eligible for commissions on golf club repair, lessons; eligible for tips
Typical Schedule: 5 days per week
Primary Purpose Of Position
Assist the Golf Team with all Golf Operations activities. All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to provide “world class” service to all members and guests.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides superior, first-class service to all members and guests
- Assists in administering all point-of-sale activities as it applies to green fee sales, merchandise sales and member/guest billing.
- Follows established Golf Shop opening & closing procedures.
- Assists in educating players regarding course policy, current cart policy, speed of play and so forth.
- Assists Golf Professional Team with golf tournaments including but not limited to member/guest events, club championships, weekly men’s & ladies’ games, and couples golf events.
- Assists the Golf Professional Team with golf cart fleet management.
- Assists the Player Service Team in all aspects of their operation including the practice facility, and may perform Player Service shifts as needed.
- Assists Club Merchandiser with receiving inventory, monthly inventory counts, and keeping golf shop displays neat, orderly & well stocked.
- Assists Director of Instruction in with junior golf programing and Group Golf Clinics. May provide individual instruction.
- Plays golf with members when asked; maintains professional relationship at all times.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education/Experience
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
- PGA Associate with a desire to further their career in the Golf Industry
- Experience at a high-end private club or resort preferred
Special Skills/Equipment
- Minimum age requirement 18+ (21+ if driving licensed Resort vehicle)
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet the requirements of driver insurability as established by the insurance carrier required.
- Basic computer skills
- Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR training
- Knowledge of golf course management and operation practices and procedures
- Professional knowledge of the standards techniques of playing and teaching golf
- USGA Rules of Golf knowledge
- Knowledge of golf-related concessions, equipment merchandising, maintenance of course, and related facilities
- Well organized and detail oriented
Essential Physical Requirements
- Frequent reaching, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and balancing
- Able to stand and/or walk for duration of shift
- Able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Frequently exposed to moving objects and outside weather conditions.
