Grounds Maintenance Operative
Location: Stroud
Hours: 7 AM to 4 PM Monday to Thursday
7 AM to 1 PM on a Friday
Pay: up to £15 p/hour DOE
Responsibilities Of a Grounds Maintenance Operative
- Undertake maintenance activities allocated, in a timely manner, whilst ensuring the health and safety of themselves, their colleagues, clients and the general public
- Carry out site clearance
- Disposal of waste from site clearance and other activities such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, etc.
- Effectively operate a range of grounds maintenance vehicles & associated equipment including brush cutter/strimmer; pedestrian and ride-on mowers; hedge cutters
- Carry out weed spraying following the health safety and ecological requirements for the site and in general
- Work effectively at height using a range of grounds maintenance equipment
- Carry out routine checks on equipment and machinery.
- Responsible for the health and safety of themselves, their work colleagues, and others who may be affected by their activity, working in accordance with the safety policies of both clients
- Undertake any relevant training which may be deemed necessary to ensure duties are carried out effectively
- To carry out administrative tasks associated with the post
- To take personal responsibility for any specific designated duties assigned by the Grounds Maintenance Manager, ensuring they executed at all times in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
- To carry out any other duties as may reasonably be expected of the post holder commensurate with the scope, spirit and nature of the job.
- To carry out the duties of the post in accordance with the company Equality and Diversity Policy.
Essential Skills Of a Grounds Maintenance Operative
- Experience of working in grounds maintenance environment
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Experience with a range of associated plant and machinery, such as ride on mowers, pedestrian mowers, hedge cutters, strimmer’s, blowers etc.
- The ability to lift (with assistance) and move handheld plant and machinery with a weight of up to 60kg
- Able to use all hand tools, including wheelbarrows, rakes, shovels etc.
- Able to assist team members with the removal of bulk waste, soil, rubble etc. and load vans and skips with waste
- Good time management skills
- Ability to achieve a good level of customer care
- Strive to continuously improve quality service provided to customers
- Experience of delivering a customer focused service
- Prioritise and plan effectively to ensure service delivery priorities
- CSCS/CPCS card
- NVQ L2 in amenity horticulture or similar desirable
- Full (clean) driving license
- Willing to drive to undertake work/role
