Purpose of role: To provide an efficient and responsive service to undertake general maintenance, repairs, breakdowns and diagnostics of vehicles and equipment, delivering a high level of service to the Estate.
Main Accountabilities
- Undertake general maintenance, diagnosis and repairs on all types of machinery and equipment, stationary and mobile deploying a wide range of skills, for example; electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, petrol and diesel engines;
- Ensure cost effective management of mechanical and fleet assets across the Estate;
- Ensure assets are maintained in line with statutory requirements;
- Servicing, diagnosis and repairs of agricultural and horticultural machinery and motor vehicles ranging from 2-stroke machines to large tractors;
- Liaise with suppliers for information and parts supply;
- Maintain records;
- Ensure necessary materials, equipment and tools are organised, available and appropriate;
- Understand and follow relevant health and safety procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
- Liaise with stakeholders across the Estate to deliver a high level of service balancing priorities.
Knowledge, Experience, And Skills
- Qualified to City & Guilds level, or equivalent;
- Demonstrable skills in delivering high quality work safely;
- At least 3 years relevant practical, post training, experience in the mechanical maintenance sector, knowledge of agricultural equipment would be beneficial;
- Valid driving license;
- Proven analytical and fault-finding skills;
- Good knowledge of mechanical equipment from small handheld tools to large mechanical equipment e.g. tractors;
- Electrical vehicle maintenance would be beneficial, but not essential;
- Ability to develop sound cost effective solutions to problems;
- A good communicator, confident, friendly, approachable with the ability to engage with a wide variety of people;
- Be willing to have a flexible and versatile approach to provide support wherever and whenever needed;
- Team player with ability to work on own initiative;
- Organised with meticulous attention to detail;
- To be goal orientated and meet deadlines.
