Street Scene and Waste Operative Role Profile

We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic front-line worker to join our team of Street Scene and Waste Operatives within the Grounds Maintenance section of Plymouth City Council’s Street Services department.
The team has the responsibility to promote, manage and enhance Plymouth City Council’s Green Spaces in a manner that delivers maximum benefits for people and nature.
Primary role includes grass cutting, shrub bed maintenance, vegetation management and tree planting and maintenance, the role will also include the following duties where required.
Keep the city and local environment clean, tidy and adequately maintained with minimum disruption to residents and the public in compliance with relevant environmental legislation.
Carry out grounds maintenance and cleansing as directed in a safe working manner within Codes of practice.
Ensure areas are left clean and tidy.
Report unsafe working practices to line manager.
Compliant with rules in Codes of Practice including Highway Code regulations.
Completion of set tasks and duties within given timescales.
Completion of tasks and duties in compliance with environmental legislation
Waste recorded and disposed in safe manner in line with relevant legislation.
Collecting various types of waste and recycling.
Cleanse public land, highways, and main roads as directed by line manager.
Carry out grounds maintenance as directed including using mechanical hand tools such as pedestrian mower, strimmer’s, and hedge cutters.
This role is not suitable for job share or flexible working.
