Job Summary
A Greenskeeper I is an entry level operator that will be involved with bunker raking, green and tee mowing, and various types of hand mowing. This an integral position of the Maintenance operation. Kohanaiki is dedicated to the integrity and commitment to the community and environment in which we live. At all times, the Greenskeeper I employees will be cognizant of the treatment of our daily environment by upholding strong ethics in products used, displayed, and disposed of. We are responsible for the environmental stewarding of Kohanaiki and treating each other as an ‘Ohana.
Job Responsibilities And Standards

Job Specifics
- Perform Bunker Raking and Mechanical Rake Operation.
- Greens, Tees, & Approaches Walk-Mowing, & Blower Operation.
- Bunker, Turf Perimeter, & Cart Path Edging.
- Sandpro & Super Star Operation.
- Carry-All, Progator, & Utility Vehicle Operation.
- Reports any malfunctions or damages to carts, equipment, irrigation components, or turf to a supervisor or manager.
Qualifications:
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of golf course maintenance through references and work history.
- Must be self-motivated, maintain a positive attitude, and treat others as you would like to be treated.
Customer Service Responsibility:
- Ensures that the club's customer service standards are maintained at an exceptional level.
- Presents self in a professional manner including appearance, identification, and general communication and conduct at all times.
- Makes a positive contribution to the work environment through presentation of positive attitude, demonstration of cooperation and teamwork, and constructive approach to daily events.
- Listens effectively, responds to guests’ requests in a friendly “can do” manner.
Dependability:
- Attendance: Adheres to established schedule of work hours. Follows established procedures for early notification to supervisor when unable to report to work. Call a manager 30 minutes before shift starts to avoid an improper call in.
- Punctuality: Arrives to work at scheduled times and works until authorized to leave.
- Attends all mandatory education/in-service programs and demonstrates understanding of responsibilities through appropriate actions.
- Demonstrates effective communication by utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal skills in all interactions.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and extra hours when needed.
Safety:
- Demonstrates adherence to the club's safe practice procedures and makes recommendations to improve safety. Reports any unsafe work practice to supervisor.
- Consistently utilizes proper body mechanics in performance of responsibilities, as evidenced by supervisor’s observation and no injury to self or others due to improper work habits.
- Follows proper reporting procedures when injured at work. Is aware of the location of material safety data sheets and refers to them when necessary.
Physical And Mental Requirements Of The Job
- Ability to execute a considerable amount of physical labor; daily use of tools such as: picks, shovels, rakes, & brooms.
- Ability to execute considerable amount of lifting. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to work safely and cautiously, not harming other staff or yourself.
- Must be able to communicate with fellow team members and supervisors about job tasks, responsibilities, suggestions, & concerns.
- Must be able to respond to requests of members & guests.
