Job Title: Grounds Maintenance & Services Operator
Location: Cambridge
Salary: £25,500 to £27,500 per annum DOE
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week
We are seeking an enthusiastic and flexible individual to join our clients Estate Management team. In this dynamic role, you will work collaboratively across three key divisions: Estates, Porters, and Gardening, contributing to the smooth operation and maintenance of their grounds and facilities. The role is a permanent position with an immediate start date.
You must hold a valid UK driver's license.
All employment offers are subject to security screening and may require health screening. The organisation operates as a non-smoking site.
Responsibilities
- Waste Management: Assist in the daily processing of site waste, including recycling, composting, clinical waste, electrical waste, paper shredding, and general waste disposal.
- Gardening Support: Collaborate with the Gardening team to maintain formal areas, including weeding, spraying, and other associated tasks.
- Porters Team Assistance: Provide support to the site Porters team as needed.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of clinical waste streams on site.
- Grounds Maintenance: Help maintain site grounds, including amenity grassland and parkland areas.
- Woodland and Grassland Care: Assist in the maintenance of estate woodlands and managed grasslands, from mature woodlands to newly planted trees and hay meadows.
- Conservation Projects: Participate in conservation initiatives within the estate grounds.
- Machinery Operation: Operate and maintain various machinery, such as tractors and ride-on mowers.
- Footpath Maintenance: Ensure the upkeep of public and permissive footpaths, including mowing and fencing.
- Winter Grounds Care: Assist with winter clearing of site grounds, including snow removal and gritting of paths, roads, and parking areas.
- Additional Duties: Carry out any other reasonable requests from management as needed.
Experience
- Proven experience working in a team environment
- Background in grounds maintenance or a similar practical discipline
- Experience in service provision for a large site
- Knowledge of waste management, recycling, and clinical waste processes
- Familiarity with powered hand tools and large agricultural machinery

- Strong foundation in grounds maintenance practices
