Salary: £24,600 - £28,081 DOE
Hours: 37 hours per week, 5 days from 7 (including occasional evenings and weekends for tournaments)

Chappell Enterprises UK is seeking a highly skilled Sports Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our client's expert team maintaining 2 cricket fields, 6 football pitches & 7 synthetic pitches.

About the Role:
As part of this role, you will play a key part in the maintenance, preparation, and development of both natural and synthetic sports surfaces for a prestigious client base, including National Governing Bodies, corporate organisations, community sports programmes, and student sports teams.
This is an opportunity to work on elite-level playing surfaces, using specialist grounds maintenance equipment to deliver exceptional quality sports pitches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and maintenance of sports pitches (natural and synthetic) to a professional standard.
- Marking out, aeration, mowing, and renovation of playing surfaces.
- Operation of specialist sports turf machinery and equipment.
- Setting up and removing pitch equipment on match days.
- Liaising with customers to ensure high standards are met.
- Implementing Health & Safety policies and ensuring safe working practices.
- Recommending improvements to work systems and machinery utilisation.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Experience in sports grounds maintenance—preferably football, but other sports backgrounds will be considered.
- A Valid UK Driving Licence
- Experience using specialist sports turf machinery.
- Strong understanding of natural and synthetic pitch preparation.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
- A proactive approach, with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required.
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2 or higher in Sports Turf Maintenance (or equivalent).
- PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certifications
- First Aid Certificate.
- Chainsaw Licence.
- Additional industry qualifications.
