Our brand new care home located in Wimborne are looking to recruit a Maintenance Operative on a permanent basis with contracts for up to 40 hours.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To ensure the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard and provide the residents with a safe, comfortable and pleasant environment in which to live.
- Maintaining all records in accordance with company policies, procedures and guidelines. To include but not limited to:
- Check the maintenance books daily and action immediately.
- Carry out user tests of fire alarm systems, fire doors, call points, fire exits, door retaining devices, and water temperatures weekly, emergency lighting and smoke/heat detectors monthly and record in Home Maintenance Manual.
- Ensure fire appliances are checked and serviced by a suitable qualified engineer regularly ensuring that this is recorded.
- Assist the Care Home Manager to carry out monthly fire drills and ensure staff follow fire evacuation procedures and assist with updating fire evacuation procedures with support from the Care Home Manager.
- Assist the Care Home Manager with health and safety inspections.
- Carry out Portable Appliance Testing.
- Provide an on-call emergency support service out of hours when required.
- Gardening this will include cutting grass, maintaining hedges and weeding.
- Keeping grounds clean and tidy.
- Carrying out general maintenance tasks for the home such as painting & decorating, basic joinery.
- Undertaking user checks of equipment, ensuring it is in safe working order.
- Liaise and monitoring of contractors on jobs that fall outside your expertise.
- Assist/supervise with deliveries to the home, monitoring delivered goods.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Some awareness of the issues faced by people who need care and support such as older or disabled people.
- A very hands-on approach as the role can be very busy and can be physical at times.
- You will need a good understanding of basic maintenance repairs.
- You will require to have excellent knowledge of Health and safety.
- Will hold a full driving licence.
- You will have good numeracy skills.
The recruitment process aims to create and maintain a safe workforce and contains robust vetting procedures. The successful applicants will be appointed subject to references and enhanced DBS check.
