Main Duties Of The Role
To feed and look after our Angus cattle, Innovis sheep and Hampshire-cross pigs to a high standard, supported by the veterinary team to achieve within the top ten percent of UK farms.
Help manage a modern grazing system as well as forage and arable crops to improve and maintain plant health. Making accurate records throughout, to inform management decisions and contribute to research.
Operate and maintain farm machinery safely, including assisting with a range of field cultivations and sowing through to harvesting, milling and mixing.
You will work within a strong culture of safety, checking and maintaining equipment and machinery and keeping accurate on-line records for your safety and the safety of staff, students and visitors. You will also contribute to safety inspections to help improve our position.
Our main farm enterprise is teaching and learning focusing on delivering excellence in learning and preparing our students for industry, there will be a strong emphasis assisting lecturers and students in practical tasks with livestock as well as machinery and estate skills.
Essential Requirement
A minimum level 3 qualification in agriculture is essential along with a minimum level 2 in Maths and English. Significant experience of working in the industry across a range of enterprises and an up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety are essential for this role.
Certificates of technical competence and previous experience of working in an education setting would be an advantage, but not essential.
