Easingwold Golf Club and Driving Range - Manager.
Easingwold golf club and Driving Range seeks a highly capable and motivated manager with experience in a managerial position, team leadership and a passion for the game of golf. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication skills, demonstrating the ability to engage effectively and liaise with members, staff, and key stakeholders. The position will focus on revenue generation through the sales and marketing of the course, driving range and clubhouse. The role will be an important internal link between staff, franchisees, the Board and its members. The successful candidate will help guide the golf club and driving range to deliver excellence across all facets of operations. The position will also require the individual to have the gravitas to maintain standards across the club and its facilities.
Scope of Role
This position reports to the Chair of the Management Board. The Manager is the face of the Golf Club and Driving Range to members, visitors, the local community and the Golf community in Yorkshire and beyond.
The Manager will be a Director of the Golf Club and will be expected to attend and lead Board meetings with the Chair of the Management Board.
He / She will embrace the membership ethos of the Club whilst leading new initiatives to ensure the Club and its facilities grow.
Specifically, the ROLE covers:
Strategy: Key support in the development of short, medium and long-term planning for the Golf Club and Driving Range.
Finance: Key support in the development and management of the annual budget
Commerce: Selling and marketing all Club and Driving Range services to membership, new members and sponsorship opportunities. Delivery of annual commercial target
Cost Management: Delivery of annual cost reduction targets
Operations: Liaising with the onsite Play2Par (P2P) Golf Academy, Catering and the Course Management on day-to-day operations
Communication: Leading the Clubs relationships with members, visitors, regulatory authorities, local and the wider golfing stakeholders.
Service: Delivering a customer driven service for all users of the Club and the management of the Clubhouse and Driving Range services.
Corporate/Social Responsibility: In cooperation with others, ensure the Club meets its legal, community and ethical responsibilities.
Health and Safety: Ensure the Clubs Health and Safety Policy is adhered to, working with the H&S advisor and making sure the board is updated as required.
The Manager will be a member of the Golf Manager Association.
KEY TASKS:
Strategy: As part of the management board, be accountable for the development of short, medium and long-term planning for the Golf Club and Driving Range.
Finance: In partnership with the Chairman and Finance Director, develop the annual budget for board approval and monitor throughout the year.
Commercial: Selling and marketing all the Club and Driving Range services
- Prepare and implement an annual sales and marketing plan.
- Sell sponsorship and advertising opportunities.
- Prepare and implement an annual Social Media plan.
- Membership renewal and new member recruitment.
- Prepare and manage a cost plan for the above.
- Actively pursue opportunities to increase revenues from new and current members, green fees and visiting societies. Liaise with P2P on exploring joint opportunities.
- Management of the Club Website.
- Maintain Club and Driving Range reputation management via Social media.
- Maintain the Club database of members and visitors
- Develop and manage a Club Social event calendar.
Communications: Act as the interface between the Management Board, members and employees.
- Prepare and circulate Club newsletters to members.
- Daily communication with Catering, Course Management and P2P on matters impacting play on the day.
- Ensure members and visitors adhere to Club rules, conduct and dress codes. Greet visiting society organisers.
- Develop and maintain good links with local community and businesses to promote the Club/Driving Range and sponsorship/advertising opportunities.
Service: Delivery for all users of the Club Facilities
- Facility management of the Clubhouse, Clubhouse facilities and the Driving Range
- Hold regular meetings with Catering Operations to ensure correct standards are being maintained.
- Ensure Clubhouse and Driving Range facilities are open and operational as per times set by the Club Board. You will hold the Liquor license (this can be post appointment).
- Ensure the Club security and act as key-holder for the Club premises and contact for alarm call-outs and other emergencies.
- Assist/manage, as appropriate, repairs to any equipment or service breakdowns
- Work with various committees and individuals to ensure that all Open Competitions, Invitation days and other Club events are adequately arranged and managed. Also liaise with Handicaps and Competitions to ensure smooth running of Club events. Assist on the day as required.
Corporate and Social Responsibility: Work in cooperation with others to ensure the Club meets its legal, community and ethical responsibilities.
- Maintain the Clubs Safe Golf register.
- Ensure club policies relating to D&I, Safeguarding and Employment Legislation are always adhered to.
- Formulate and monitor the Corporate Social Responsibility practice of the Club.
- Maintain and update the Clubs Data Protection Register.
Health and Safety: Act as Health and Safety/Fire Officer for the Club.
- Responsible for Health and Safety/Fire Management of the Golf Club/Driving Range facilities and all Club employees - permanent and temporary.
- Ensure robust H&S arrangements are in place for employees, contractors and franchisees. Annual and event risk assessment must be carried out and recorded with any remedial works to be undertaken promptly.
- Take action on any variances to ensure all legal requirement are met at any time. Report to the Board on all H&S/Fire issues.
- Work with the Club H&S advisor to proactively manage issues.
- Ensure accidents are recorded in the Club Accident book. All Fire check also recorded in the Club fire-book.
- All training to be recorded and systematically planned.
Other responsibilities:
- Golf Club and Driving Range administration
- Act as Club credit card holder.
- Ensure insurance is in place to fully cover Clubs and Officers potential risks. Ensure Chair is aware of any non-compliance.
- Maintain and monitor all 3rd party agreements, contracts, sponsorships and leases on a time-led spreadsheet.
- Conduct staff appraisals.
- Maintain all HR records for Club employees.
- Carry out other duties as may arise from time to time as directed by the Board.
